Can Anybody Kick The Cigarette Habit?

Why is it there are solutions for anything and everybody? One may find him/herself with a broken leg and a cast is set along with some crutches. Voila! Eventually that leg is healed! There are countless scenarios and solutions from say, a broken leg to weight loss/gain to hair loss to skin care. We all want to better ourselves. We all want a viable solution...

Smoking is a nasty habit. But why kick the cigarette habit when it seems nearly impossible to quit? What are the ways to quit smoking anyway? What is the BEST stop smoking treatment? A patch? A pill? A prayer?

According to the American Heart Association, in the United States an estimated 25.5 MILLION men and 21.5 MILLION women still smoke, many of whom want to quit or have tried some sort of stop smoking treatment. It is no shock these people feel the negative effects of smoking (shortness of breath, loss of taste buds, etc.) Not to mention they are at a much higher risk for heart disease and health failures.

Nicotine is addictive and this addiction IS a disease. So why do people smoke cigarettes? The answer is, there is no ONE reason. Every one person has his or her reason. And one must not place blame.

Instead, one must understand his/her cigarette habit and decide, "The effects of cigarette smoke, both inhaled and second hand cigarette smoke IS not for me!" He or she should want to quit, want to live a longer, healthier lifestyle.

Does one take a stop smoking vaccine? Go to a stop smoking support group, full of strangers who also want to quit? What about zyban? Quit smoking, cold turkey? Does one merely read a stop smoking ad in a glossy magazine and think, "Ah, that will be so simple?" No. Nothing in life is simple. Especially when it comes to the cigarette habit.

Ways to quit cigarette smoking are numerous. But one must be ready and willing to kick the cigarette habit.

For example, a good friend of mine ordered a stop smoking cd; he quit smoking through hypnosis. Another friend, well, she quit when she found out she was pregnant and instead, chewed gum. Everyone has his or her preference. Ultimately, anybody can kick the cigarette habit, but only once they have made the absolute decision to do so.
